How to slice onions
To get started you’ll need a sharp kitchen knife and a chopping board. Slice the onion in half, from stem to root then peel the tough outside layers.
Place each half flat side down and slice ¼” pieces, being sure to watch your fingers as you chop. You can cut the onion width-wise for a sharper taste or lengthwise for a milder flavor.
